NICHOLAS T. AMATO

Attorney Nicholas T. Amato has practiced law for over 35 years with the main part of his practice devoted to the preparation and trial of medical malpractice, product liability, automobile negligence, trucking death accidents and other areas of personal injury litigation. 

He has successfully won jury verdicts and/or settled his client’s claims in amounts ranging into the millions of dollars. Nick also has tried criminal cases, like DUI’s and received numerous jury verdict acquittals. In 2021, the Ohio Supreme Court appointed Nick to serve as a member of the Board of Professional Conduct. Since 2014, Nick has served as an acting Judge for East Liverpool Municipal Court up until 2023, and now serves as acting Judge at the Columbiana County Municipal Court since 2023.

Nick currently serves as 1 of 4 Plaintiff’s lead attorney teams involved in the East Palestine, Ohio Class Action Lawsuit against Norfolk Southern Railroad regarding the toxic chemical train derailment case filed in Federal Court. Nick was also appointed by the Federal Judge as Community Liaison regarding the Class Action Lawsuit.

CHARLES AMATO

Judge Charles (Chris) Amato received his Juris Doctorate from The Thomas M. Cooley Law School (Now Western Michigan University Cooley Law School) in Lansing, Michigan, and he is admitted to practice law in Ohio. Chris graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice. Before becoming a Judge, Chris, along with his brother Nick, founded the Amato Law Office, L.P.A. in Wellsville, Ohio. While in private practice, Chris defended thousands of clients in Federal and State criminal, juvenile, domestic relations, and civil law matters.

On February 4, 2015, Chris was appointed as a Columbiana County Municipal Court Judge by Governor John R. Kasich. As a judge, Chris presided over criminal and civil matters, and started Columbiana County’s First Municipal Drug Court.. Chris resigned from the Bench on February 2, 2018 and returned to Amato Law Office, L.P.A. on February 5, 2018.

In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife Courtney, children: Maia and Alana Amato, step-daughter: Gia Elkobi Amato, and three dogs as well as volunteering his time to various local organizations and committees.

Chris is the son of Charles F. and Irma J. Amato. He has one brother, Nick, who is also an attorney. And two sisters: Cynthia Scarbino, Columbiana County’s Chief Felony Probation Officer; and Gina Amato.

FRANK A. WILLIAMS

Mr. Williams is a young, sharp, attorney that brings a wide variety of useful skills with him to help compliment the already well-established Amato Law team. Attorney Williams is qualified to practice law in 36 different states and jurisdictions: including OH, WV, PA, D.C., and many more. He recently graduated law school from THE Ohio State University, a top 30 law school in the nation at the time of his acceptance.

Attorney Williams concentrates in criminal law, domestic law, and juvenile law, but also has limited experience in contract and corporate law as well.

Throughout his time at Ohio State, Attorney Williams worked as in-house council for Honda Motors, completed an internship for the Honorable Algenon Marbley, Chief Federal District Judge for the Southern District of Ohio, and worked as a research assistant for Ms. Katherine Federle, the author of numerous Family and Children Law textbooks which are used at law schools all across the country today. Working directly under former Judge and well-known Attorney Chris Amato, Attorney Williams is quickly becoming a new favorite in Columbiana County.
